I start with picture 1 since it is the most significant one in the story I am describing. However, there are many previous works which have been the antecedent of the ones I include on the webpage. Since I was twelve I had a gift for drawing and I began with the typical figurative development ( see classical pictures). The rediscovery of the keys to the figurative art was so fast and intuitive, I think it was an ability born in immediate previous lives. At the age of twenty I started a process of simplification of the figurative shapes in more and more abstract elements. These simplified elements began to be connected with abstract expressionism. They were influenced by the exhibitions I started to visit and by my discovery of contemporary art from World War II on, especially in the USA. I was carried away by Pollock, Kooning, Motherwell, Morris Louis, ... It was the time to discover, to start from scratch. As soon as I started from scratch I began to paint as if it was a new world
to be discovered. I used gestural elements from the artists I found out
about. In pictures 1 and 2 there are
abstract elements but I still had my mind on classical perspective as the
logic and the gestural elements are to be developed yet.
